I apologize for the last post. I copy and pasted from Word but the Board didn’t like that.

    Goals

    Short Term:

    1. Increase my knowledge base and ability to seamlessly articulate the knowledge while coaching.
      • No later that (NLT) 11 April 2016, I will be able to seamlessly articulate the superficial and deep meaning of all topics covered during Phase I of the Academy.
    2.   Increase Soldier awareness of the importance of posture, position, nutrition, recovery, and training.
      • Each week during our daily physical training (PT) I will pop quiz and have Soldiers back-brief me about the purpose and importance of topics covered during previous PT sessions.
    3. Finish as the top student in Phase I of the Academy.
      • Each week I will strive to go beyond the standard in assignments, discussions, and readings. No one likes mediocrity.

    Long Term:

    1. Advance my career from Platoon Leader to Executive Officer (XO) NLT 30 JUN 2016.
      • Each week I will take time to learn more about daily XO duties to prepare myself for the position.
    2. Utilize knowledge from the Academy to improve soldier physical fitness test scores.
      • I will implement a program for PT to improve my platoon’s overall average Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) score by at least 10 points NLT 30 June 2016.
    3. Advance from a coach to a Power Coach, AKA Power Coach Youngling to Power Coach Padawan to Power Coach Master (see what I did there).
      • On a daily basis, I will fight off mediocrity to graduate as the top student from the Academy at the end of Phase III.

@hashaw21 just jam it in. If it looks goofy, i’ll get it fixed. I like to use Google Docs, with Google Chrome as my browser, to write my drafts then drop into a forum post, or blog.

    Goals

    Short term:

    1. Refine and develop a larger knowledge base in the S&C world. This will allow me to immediately become a better coach for my athletes, which should always be a goal. When someone pays you for a service, it should be your job to provide the best service to them possible.
    2. Use this vast increase in knowledge and confidence to start a consistent flow of web-based content for my athletes and members in both gyms. This class and the assignments will serve as a jump off point to bring quality, consistent content for this venture.
    3. Utilize the new tools that will undoubtedly go in my shed to enhance my off-season basketball program for my athletes this spring. The goal is to show them the program is continually evolving into a more efficient and thoughtful program.

    LONG:

    1. Continue to build upon the content creation and utilize it for marketing as well. With a consistent flow and structure in place this will help me organize our social media posts to draw in new customers through content creation and not rely solely on word of mouth or tacky marketing ploys. In turn, I should see the bottom line of our business grow.
    2. Develop in-house coaching Continuing Ed programs. I want to get ideas from this class to implement an effective coaching improvement plan for my staff. This will not only keep our group collectively sharp and set us apart from anywhere else in the area but it will have help save money for the business. Continuing ed can be very expensive for us to ensure the staff is staying sharp, this will also allow us to put more money in the bank.
    3. I want to be known as “The Guy” to see for basketball S&C, not just in my area but all over. If I want to train the best I have to be the best, this reputation will come as more and more of my guys and girls get the best results consistently. Going through this process is another thing to get me to this level.

LOL learning curve hurts so good!

    Assignment 1:

    3 Short Term Goals (Professional/Coaching) *3 months:

1)Educate(my coaches, my clients) in a more profound way (scientific)on how and why we train the way we do.

2)Coach my self by bettering my mind and body through application of knowledge.

3)This one is going to be a working process because as we go along in the Academy I will recognize and accept unseen or unknown limiting factors and asses them.. Then DESTROY THEM.

    3 LongTerm Goals (Professional/Coaching) *6 months:

1)Be able to recognize more complex limiting factors in my self and my clients and provide a structured protocol for improvement.

2)Become a Coaches Coach where I can inspire other amazing peers to seek knowledge and battle bullshit with #truth and continue my path in the PA-cademy.

3)Coach my children: leading by example to continue the path of being a true POWER ATHLETE.

    3 Month Short Term

    1. Finalize, prepare and successfully implement my programming, using the PA method, for my upcoming Youth Strength Camp. It is in its second year and we will be seeing all of our kids from last year return, and with my increased coach’s eye and knowledge in the bank, I am hoping to give these kids the tools they need to be successful in their chosen sport.
    2. Finish writing the last training cycle for the WWRFC before their playoff run. As well as successfully implement their “in-season training” during their D2 National Championship run. This is my second year working with this D2 club team, I have had an entire year of training with them this time around, whether it was simply program writing, or direct coaching, so im hoping for a great run!
    3. Successfully complete phase 1 of the PA Academy

    6 month long term Goals

    1. Decide where I will be training out of over the next two years. I currently split my time between two locations. One would require personal financial investment but would be a better fit, the other is plush, and full of money, but the training clientele are not ideal for me, or my direction.
    2. Finish writing program templates. I am hoping to finish writing a number of programs that will then be used by my clients and athletes depending on their desired training outcomes, and eventually become a component of my business.
    3. I would like to have my professional website up and running within 6 months.

    Short Term Goals:
    1. Successfully complete Power Athlete Academy I.
    2. Take new knowledge from Power Athlete Academy and propose new Strength and Conditioning curriculum with my new Head Football Coach. If accepted, implement for Summer 2016 session.
    3. Not have the accomplishments of Goal #1 and Goal #2 negatively effect my role as both Athletic Trainer to Olathe South High School and Father/Husband to the Dolan family.

    Long Term Goals:
    1. Finish Power Athlete Academy.
    2. Implement Power Athlete template to all Strength and Conditioning Programs at OSHS starting School year 16-17.
    3. Implement Power Athlete template to new classes at CrossFit On Track (local box where that I currently provide ATC coverage) starting January 2017.

    3 month goals:

    1) To successfully complete Phase 1 of PA Academy.  It may seem simple but I’m taking nothing for granted and fully expect this course to challenge my coaching limits.

    2)  To develop a deeper understanding of the science of strength training.  Knowing things is not the same as understanding the “why’s” and that is what I’m after with this course.

    3)  To take the knowledge gained from this course to refine my class structure at Alpha Athletics.  Better warm ups, more thoughtful programming, improved technique all in an effort to improve the results my members achieve.

    6 months (or longer) goals:

    1) To work as a S&C coach for a local rugby team.  I’ve been working on a local rugby team trying to get them to train with me for their upcoming season.  My hope is that the academy will prove to myself and this team that I am the right person to take them to the next level.

    2) To build my coaching staff at Alpha Athletics.  The less time I spend in general population classes the more time I have to spend in team training and athlete training.  My ultimate goal is to train athletes/teams ~75% of the time and gen pop ~25% of the time.

    3) Complete PA Academy and train on the CFF seminar staff.

    Short term goals:

    a. The make a clear point to powerathletehq that they made the right choice when selecting me to be part of this program.

    b. To implement the gained knowledge with my Sports Performance programs at UXO. I’ve been using core PA concepts with my Youth Offseason Football Strength Camp with huge success. This camp will end Feb 26th. We will then switch to a 4 week Speed/Agility Camp with the same group. I’m looking to add new concepts that were learned in the Academy during these 4 weeks.

    c. To improve my coaches under me at UXO with any key concepts learned from the Academy. A high tide rises all ships.

    Long term:

    a. To set the standard for S&C’s. I want to be an example of what others will strive to be. Is this attainable? Yes. It starts with continuing to improve myself and setting the standard in my area first. Then I expect to travel around the U.S. promoting myself, my methods, and my philosophy. I’ll be releasing my eBook within the next 60 days and will hash out a sort of book tour by fall 2016.

    b. To start my own gym and become a hub for coaching development throughout the industry in this area as well as have the gym draw athletes from all sports who want to improve their movement. The goal for the gym will be by Jan 2017.

    c. To share my knowledge with the world. To share it with those who will listen and want to learn. My life statement reads: To live, love, improve my productive mind, and give back. I want to make an impact on those I chose to surround myself with as well as those who are willing to learn.

    Short Term Goals:

    1. As some of the other guys previously said: successfully complete the Power Athlete Academy I. However, being my first experience dealing with a graduate level curriculum in another language (not in Spanish), this is something I do not take for granted. With that said, I guess a more realistic shorter term would be to hold on to the group as long as possible. (Yeah I know, we haven’t started yet and I’m already making excuses…)

    2. Successfully complete the Precission Nutrition course which I’m also currently involved with.

    3. WARNING: Successfully complete the internship process I’ve been involved during almost the last two years at CrossFit HQ and become one of their Level1 Seminar Staff.

    Long Term Goals:

    1. Finish Power Athlete Academy, (Or at least develop my S&C knowledge to unexpected levels, even though It may be thanks to osmosis by being “surrounded” by the most knowledgeable people in the industry)

    2. Develop my personal nutritional consultancy business.

    3. Continuing education on nutrition.

    Short Term Goals:

    1. To successfully complete the the Power Athlete Academy. Like some have already said this may seem easy or a given, but we all have things that are pulling us in multiple directions (gym, off site training, rugby coaching, looming ACL surgery, other PA responsibilities) so this will definitely test me.

    2. To implement the knowledge that I acquire as I go through the Academy to better the current athletes that I am working with. 15 of them are high school rugby players who are seeking their first national title, and the 30 high school softball players are seeking their first state title in almost 20 years. Both have the ability to accomplish those goals, and anything I can take away from this course to impart on them to increase their chance of success is why I am here.

    3. To have a deeper knowledge and understanding of all the Power Athlete concepts that are preached. When asked questions whether at the gym, or seminar about something I want to be able to intelligently respond with the answer, and not be unsure of what I just answered.

    Long Term Goals:

    1. To get back to being an active Power Athlete/Crossfit Football Seminar Coach, as well as taking on more responsibilities that go along with the higher roles. This course will give the knowledge, understanding, and practice to have confidence in myself as a Power Athlete Coach. It has been well over a year since coached at a seminar, and have been ready for awhile to get back into it.

    2. Use the summer as a launching pad to try and create something similar to what Chad Hobbs has with the Athlete Factory. This would take a long time to get to his level, but I know I can expand on the athletes I serve. I love working with the rugby player, and am thrilled I acquired a softball team that allowed me to step outside of what I have been doing. I want to expand beyond my “nitch” of rugby. I want to become know as the gym where serious athletes of all types go to improve their performance, not just rugby players. The summer is when we launch our Sports Performance Camp, which I think will allow a greater reach.

    3. After completion I want to leverage my experiences such as this to aid in creating/developing an ongoing continuing education course/outline for my coaches at my gym. I want to create the most knowledgeable staff in the area to continue to set ourself apart. As the business grows myself and the other owner step away from “Gen Pop” classes more and more. I want to continue to educate my coaches so it was as if I was on the coaching floor myself, and their is no drop off in the knowledge of the coaches the members get. As the saying goes “a high tide rises all ships”
